Why a Houseproud veranda

More time outside, whatever the forecast

A veranda gives you covered, open-air space off the back of your home — somewhere to eat, entertain and unwind that doesn't close down every autumn.

Made to measure

Surveyed and fabricated around the dimensions and character of your home — not a one-size kit forced to fit.

Toughened glass

Clear shelter that preserves natural light — quieter in rain than polycarbonate, and it stays clear for decades.

Powder-coated aluminium

A durable architectural frame, powder-coated in the RAL colour that suits your property.

Professional installation

Most fittings take one to two days on site, with your manufacturing and installation schedule confirmed in writing.

Common questions

Veranda questions, answered honestly

The things people ask us before they book a survey.

Will I need planning permission for a veranda?

Planning requirements depend on the veranda design, dimensions, position and property. Verandas often require planning permission, while listed buildings, conservation areas and properties with restricted permitted-development rights may need additional consent.

We can help identify what may be required during your survey, but your local planning authority makes the final decision. You should obtain any required approval before installation begins.

This is general information, not formal planning advice.

How long does installation take?

Most installations take approximately one to two days on site once your made-to-measure veranda is ready. Your expected manufacturing and installation schedule will be confirmed in writing with your quotation.

Because the frame is fabricated to your measurements before we arrive, there's no lengthy building work — and we leave your garden as tidy as we found it.

What's the difference between glass and polycarbonate roofing?

Polycarbonate is the budget option: it's lightweight and cheap, but it's noisy in rain, scratches easily and tends to discolour within a few years. Toughened safety glass is heavier and costs more, but it stays crystal clear, dampens rain noise and lasts for decades.

We fit toughened glass as standard because it's the right long-term choice for a premium veranda — it's a big part of why ours look and feel different from kit products.

What colours and finishes are available?

Our aluminium frames are powder-coated and available in any RAL colour, so the veranda can match your windows, doors or guttering exactly. Anthracite grey, black and white are the most popular choices, but the full range is open to you — we'll bring samples to the survey.

What guarantee is included?

Every installation is backed by our 10-year guarantee. Written terms, coverage and exclusions are provided with your quotation.

We're a FENSA-registered business and have been trading for over 20 years from Stoke-on-Trent — so the guarantee is backed by a company that will still be here to honour it.

How much does a veranda typically cost?

Our bespoke aluminium and glass verandas start from around £6,000, subject to survey, specification and site requirements. The final price depends on size, glazing choices and any extras such as integrated lighting or side screens. Larger or more complex designs cost more — we won't pretend otherwise.

What you'll always get is a clear, written, fixed price after your free survey, with no hidden extras and no pressure to decide on the spot.
